The University of Guelph has appointed Charlotte Yates as its ninth president and vice-chancellor, and the first woman to hold the position in the university’s history. Dr. Yates has been serving as interim president and vice-chancellor since 2020 and previously held the positions of provost and vice-president, academic, at the university. She also previously served as dean of the faculty of social sciences at McMaster University, while also a faculty member in the department of political science and labour studies program. Dr. Yates is an expert in labour issues and the Canadian automotive industry. She is also the president and founding director of the Automotive Research Policy Centre and a member of the YWCA national board of directors. Dr. Yates will serve as president of the U of Guelph for a five-year term.
Clement Wee has been appointed the new vice-president, alumni and families, at Trinity Western University. In his new role, Mr. Wee will work to develop and implement a strategy to engage and mobilize TWU’s alumni and their families around the world. He has over a decade of strategic leadership experience in the Christian non-profit and charity sector and most recently served as the pastor of operations at Town + Field Church in Langley, B.C. He also served in the TWU admissions department for three years and led ministry programs for several churches in the province.
OCAD University announced that Mary Koutsoubos is its new executive director of advancement. Ms. Koutsoubos is a strategic fundraising professional with 20 years of experience in the charitable sector in Canada. Most recently, she was the deputy director of development for the National Ballet of Canada where she led the individual giving portfolio. Before this, she was the director of development at Toronto’s Soulpepper Theatre Company, director of major gifts at the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and chief development officer in the faculty of fine arts at the York University Foundation. Ms. Koutsoubos joined OCAD U on Aug. 16.
