Ryerson University has announced that Saeed Zolfaghari will be its new vice-president, administration and operations, starting on Jan. 10. Dr. Zolfaghari most recently served as interim provost and vice-president, academic, serving as the university’s chief academic officer and chief operating officer. In that role, he also co-chaired the Truth and Reconciliation Strategic Working Group and the Presidential Implementation Committee to Confront Anti-Black Racism. Prior to that, he was vice-provost, faculty affairs for six years. From 2010-2014 he was senior advisor, academic space planning.
The University of Winnipeg has named Todd Mondor to the role of president and vice-chancellor. He will be the institution’s 10th president, with a five-year term beginning April 1, 2022. Dr. Mondor has served in a variety of academic and administrative roles at the University of Manitoba, most recently as deputy provost, academic planning and programs, with a concurrent tenured professor appointment in the department of psychology. He began his career at Mount Allison University and joined U of Manitoba in 1999. He graduated from U of Winnipeg in 1987 with a bachelor of arts (honours) in psychology, before attaining both a master’s degree and doctorate in cognitive psychology from the University of Waterloo. He completed an NSERC postdoctoral fellowship at McGill University and the Montreal Neurological Institute. Dr. Mondor’s academic research is focused on auditory memory and auditory selective attention.
