Tarek Mady

The University of Alberta has appointed Robert Wood as dean of the faculty of arts for a five-year term beginning July 1. Dr. Wood is currently serving as a professor and dean of the faculty of health sciences at the University of Lethbridge where he has held a number of leadership roles, including as dean of graduate studies and postdoctoral affairs. He is an internationally recognized researcher in the field of problem gambling and a champion of the fine arts, humanities and social sciences.

Tarek Mady will serve as the dean of the faculty of business at the University of Prince Edward Island beginning March 1. Dr. Mady formerly held the position of associate dean at the UPEI faculty of business from 2017 to 2019. He holds a PhD in marketing with an emphasis in international business and has held various academic and administrative appointments in Canada, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States.

Rohini Bannerjee has been appointed to the new position of associate vice-president, diversity excellence at Saint Mary’s University. In this role, she will support accessibility and inclusivity on campus and in the academic environment. Dr. Bannerjee holds a PhD in French studies from Western University and her primary area of research is in Francophone literatures and cultures of the Indian Ocean.

The University of New Brunswick has appointed Clint Hamilton as its next vice-president, advancement starting July 1. Mr. Hamilton previously served as the senior director of athletics and recreation at the University of Victoria as well as the head coach of UNB’s men’s basketball team from 1992 to 1999. He has 35 years of experience working postsecondary education.

Starting April 1, Bert Annear will serve as deputy registrar for the University of British Columbia Okanagan. Previously, Mr. Annear served as registrar and secretary to the senate at the University of Northern British Columbia. Mr. Annear is a student advocate and holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Victoria. He is currently completing a master’s of education at UNBC.
