Shannon Wagner has been appointed Thompson Rivers University’s first vice‑president of research. She steps into the role after serving as TRU’s associate vice‑president, academic. She served as the inaugural dean of the faculty of human and health sciences at the University of Northern British Columbia before joining TRU in 2021.
Mark Robertson has been named chief librarian at Toronto Metropolitan University. Dr. Robertson will join TMU from Brock University, where he has been university librarian since 2016. Prior to that, Dr. Robertson was associate university librarian for information services at York University. His new role begins July 1.
Philip Landon has been appointed as interim president and CEO of Universities Canada (publisher of University Affairs), effective July 1. Mr. Landon currently serves as chief operating officer at the organization, where he is responsible for the association’s strategic planning and implementation and oversees the program, policy, external and member relations, information management and governance functions. Mr. Landon recently spearheaded and launched Universities Canada’s climate initiative.
Claudine Bonner has been appointed Acadia University’s first vice-provost of equity, diversity and inclusion. Dr. Bonner brings a research background in gender, equity and social justice with a focus on African diaspora migration and identity. She was a member of the president’s anti-racism task force and the president’s advisory council on decolonization at Acadia, and serves on the board of the Council of the Canadian Historical Assocation, among other organizations.
Shelagh Rowles has accepted the position of provost and vice-president, academic, at Yukon University. She has been with the institution since 1991. She has served as executive director of its centre for northern innovation in mining since 2012. Dr. Rowles holds an interdisciplinary PhD in the fields of history, public policy and innovation.
