Anne-Marie Croteau has been reappointed dean of the John Molson School of Business at Concordia University. Her second five-year term will begin on July 1, 2022. Under her guidance, John Molson became the first business school in Canada to receive gender parity certification by Women in Governance, a non-profit group. Dr. Croteau is a full professor, specializing in strategic management of information technology. She has more than 30 years of academic experience, including 15 years in leadership. Among her other roles, she is chair of the Business Schools Association of Canada.
The Université de Sudbury has named Donald Obonsawin to the position of chancellor. He will serve in the role for a three-year term. Mr. Obonsawin has over 45 years of experience in not-for-profit, public and private organizations, and is well known for his dedication to Ontario’s Francophone community. He is currently vice-chair of the Nuclear Waste Management Organization Advisory Council and a board member of the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21.
The University of Manitoba has named Cary Miller as associate vice-president (Indigenous) scholarship, research and curriculum. She began her new role on Nov. 1, and will also remain an associate professor in the faculty of arts, which is a position she has held since 2017. Dr. Miller is an Indigenous scholar in the department of Native studies, a survivor of the ‘60s Scoop and a descendant from the St. Croix and Leech Lake Anishinaabe communities in Minnesota. Before to joining the U of M, she was director of American Indian studies at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and worked at postsecondary institutions in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.
