Janet Antonio joined the University of the Fraser Valley on Aug. 6 as the director of relationship and fund development. Before joining UFV, Ms. Antonio was the executive director of the Metro Vancouver Regional Parks Foundation. She has also previously worked at Simon Fraser University and the BC Institute of Technology.
Peter Hickey joined Brandon University on Sept. 1 as its new vice-president, administration and finance. He comes to BU from Toronto, where he served most recently as the director, finance and administration, as well as interim chief financial officer for the Children’s Aid Society of Toronto. He also brings significant experience in the non-profit sector having served in the capacity of board director and finance chair with eCampus Ontario, One Kids Place Children’s Treatment Centre and Children’s Mental Health Ontario.
Effective Sept. 1, Melanie Stewart is the University of British Columbia’s vice-president of external relations. Previously Dr. Stewart held the position of associate deputy minister in the ministry of education and child care, in the BC provincial government. She has also held several other senior positions with other government departments, including the ministry of agriculture, the ministry of community, sport and cultural development, the ministry of children and family development, the ministry of mental health and addictions, the public service agency, the gender equity office, and the ministry of education and child care.
