New grad ring for the U of Lethbridge

Move over, X-Ring, there’s a new kid on the block.

Like St. Francis Xavier University’s famous graduation ring, the University of Lethbridge has introduced its own ring for graduates. Cast in sterling silver, the new graduation ring was designed by current U of Lethbridge fine arts student Eric Klempnauer and is inscribed with the university’s motto, “Fiat Lux” (Let there be light).

U of Lethbridge joins at least three other Canadian universities with an official ring for new graduates and alumni, including StFX, the Nova Scotia Agricultural College and the University of Ottawa.

The ring was launched by the University of Lethbridge Alumni Association as a way for graduates to show pride in their alma mater and “as a way for them to identify each other no matter where they were in the world,” says alumni association president Kathy Lewis. “It is also especially meaningful that a current student – and future member of our alumni community – designed the rings for us.”

The Fiat Lux ring costs $249. Each will be marked with a registration number linked to its owner.
