The Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) is helping the country’s institutions prepare for pandemics and other health emergencies through its Biosciences Research Infrastructure Fund (BRIF). The fund’s goal is to provide researchers with the competitive advantages they need to maintain the prosperity, health and security of Canadians now and in the future.

TRU brass hear demands of student-led pro-Palestine group
The meeting saw TRU commit to processing any Freedom of Information requests from the students relating to its investments within 30 days. The People’s University of Gaza at TRU said in a news release that TRU is the first Canadian university to commit to disclosing any investments it may have with Israel or companies that do business with Israel.

Student protesters at McGill encampment say first talks with university administration not fruitful
Pro-Palestinian student protesters at McGill University say school administrators failed to give a “clear timeline” in the first meeting about their demands that the university cut ties with Israeli academic institutions and pull all investments from companies that operate in the country. In a news conference Monday afternoon, the student protesters said they would be staying put until further notice.

Pro-Palestinian protest held at University of Waterloo
Dozens of students showed their support for Palestinians in Gaza at a demonstration on the University of Waterloo campus Monday. Participants held up signs demanding: “Free Palestine” and “Divest from Genocide.” There were no encampments set up on campus, similar to ones at the University of Toronto, University of Ottawa, McMaster University in Hamilton, McGill University in Montreal and the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.
