Position Summary
Based in Fredericton, New Brunswick, the President of the University of Fredericton will lead as the primary visionary and strategic figure, focusing on growth, innovation, and national prominence in online education. This role requires an individual adept at crafting and advocating for a compelling vision to position the University as a leader in higher education. Key responsibilities include cultivating high-level relationships with government, industry, members of the community, and other external partners. The President will work to enhance the University’s reputation, facilitate strategic partnerships, and oversee initiatives aimed at expanding the University’s reach, influence, and impact. The President will collaborate closely with senior leadership to align strategic goals with the University’s mission and values.

The ideal candidate for this position will be a visionary and strategic leader with a demonstrated ability to drive growth and innovation within dynamic and evolving environments. You bring experience in leading transformational change, managing complex institutional operations, and advancing organizational development. You are committed to a student-centered community, and approach leadership and community-building with a lens of global citizenship, and inclusion. You value and cultivate relationships within, across and outside the UFred community and have demonstrated effective and creative ways to actively develop partnerships that support strategic goals. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong background in leveraging technology to enhance student engagement and institutional success within a higher education or comparable context.
Experience and Qualifications
While the search committee recognizes that no one candidate is likely to meet all of the following qualifications in equal measure, they are desirable and will be used in the assessment of candidates for the position:
- A terminal degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
- Proven success in a senior leadership role within higher education or a comparable field.
- A track record of visionary leadership, with the ability to conceptualize and implement growth strategies in a fast-evolving environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in government relations, community engagement, or external partnerships.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and influence diverse communities and partners.
- Passion for online and hybrid learning, with a commitment to accessibility and innovative education.
