Medicine - (2) Academic Obstetricians/Gynecologists

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario invites applications for two full-time academic Obstetricians/Gynecologists in the Contractually Limited Appointment category: both positions are full-time (1.0 FTE) positions. The successful candidate will join the staff at St. Joseph’s Healthcare, Hamilton. The current McMaster complement of twenty generalists offers care in Obstetrics and Gynecology for the City of Hamilton, and LHINs 3 and 4 (Waterloo Wellington, Hamilton Niagara, Haldimand and Brant) covering a region of 30,000 deliveries per year. The position start dates will be in 2025 and can be negotiated with the successful candidates.

The successful academic OB/GYNs will have training and experience in obstetrics and gynecology. Special consideration will be given to candidates with additional postgraduate training beyond a residency program, such as fellowship, master’s or other advanced degree. One of these positions will be filled by a minimally invasive gynecologic surgeon (MIGS). Special consideration will also be given to candidates with additional training in mature women’s healthcare/menopause. We will also be reviewing applications from candidates that do not have MIGS or menopause expertise. The successful candidates are expected to have experience and commitment to teaching all levels of learners, including medical students, residents and clinical fellows, and will provide leadership and training to future physicians.

The candidates will be expected to fully participate in all appropriate departmental and divisional administrative and educational activities. Candidates must have demonstrated capability and interest in clinical research and show evidence of a history of research productivity to align with the departmental academic mission and vision.

Both positions are full-time faculty positions in the Contractually Limited Appointment category, for a period of three years (renewable).  Applicants  should be  certified (or eligible for certification) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the Province of Ontario. Academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. Salary is comprised of, largely, fee-for-service activities.
