Trent University School of Education invites applications for a twelve-month limited-term appointment (LTA) with a start date of August 15, 2025. The position is subject to final budgetary approval. Successful candidates will teach a combination of curriculum and foundations courses (Primary/Junior and/or Intermediate Senior) including Indigenous & Environmental Studies (IES) (Primary/Junior and Intermediate/Senior). The position will include providing mentoring and professional development support for pre-service teachers in the Indigenous Bachelor of Education (IBEP) program, as well as other duties as agreed upon with the Dean. The successful candidate will also serve as a Faculty Advisor (practicum).
The School of Education seeks applicants with strong scholarship and demonstrated excellence in teaching (at the Primary/Junior, Intermediate/Senior, and/or university level). A completed Ph.D. (or near completion) in Indigenous Education or closely related discipline is required. We welcome applicants who are committed to an integrative approach and to a vision of teaching and learning guided by ecological and social justice.

Coursework offered in the programs incorporate theory and research that encourages our students to think creatively and critically about their professional practices with attention to meeting individual learners’ needs, valuing diversity, and multiple modes of learning, and enacting researched-effective practices that demonstrate subject excellence and a strong commitment to social and ecological justice, leading to responsible action. Our education program continually renews itself and its practices through critical reflection and creative, community–based responses.
