CHRIS is a dynamic hub that empowers faculty and students to pursue scholarly excellence through support for publishing, presenting, grant applications, and research partnerships. It fosters a collaborative, innovative culture and connects researchers with industry, healthcare communities, and families—locally and globally.

This role is ideal for a leader passionate about advancing research that supports patients, families, and healthy communities, and who thrives in a culture of creativity, innovation, and collaboration.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Serve as the Institutional Research Chair for CHRIS.
  • Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for applied research, scholarship, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans aligned with institutional and health industry priorities.
  • Engage faculty and leadership in shaping research agendas and identifying opportunities for collaboration and innovation.
  • Support faculty in research dissemination, including abstracts, publications, and presentations.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with industry, healthcare, and research organizations.
  • Manage departmental budgets and research grants, ensuring alignment with institutional policies and financial performance.
  • Lead efforts to secure funding through proposal development and grant applications.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive work environment through mentorship, coaching, and performance management.
  • Oversee recruitment, evaluations, and personnel matters in compliance with organizational policies.
  • Represent the institution on committees and working groups, and support integration of research into curriculum and learning environments.
  • Actively contribute to the school’s leadership team, bringing innovation, expertise, and creativity to address challenges and shape future opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree and Nursing degree required.
  • Current registration or eligibility for active status with the CRNS.
  • Recent, relevant experience in research and scholarship, particularly within nursing or health-related fields.
  • Proficient in both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, including publication and implementation of improvement initiatives.
  • Experience engaging staff, patients, clients, and families in research and quality improvement is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated progressive leadership experience in academic or healthcare settings.
  • Strong commitment to applied research, innovation, and scholarship, with the ability to coach, mentor, and inspire others in developing their own scholarly portfolios.
