The Vice-Principal Academic and Research is a key senior executive member reporting to the Principal and Vice-Chancellor. As the senior academic officer of the University, the Vice-Principal Academic and Research will work closely with the Principal and Vice-Chancellor, acting as their primary advisor on all academic operations. In the absence of the Principal and Vice-Chancellor, the Vice-Principal Academic and Research shall exercise all the powers of the Principal and Vice-Chancellor.
Ensuring a continuing focus on the pursuit of excellence, the Vice-Principal Academic and Research will steer the core academic operations of the University and will be responsible for providing academic leadership and direction to ensure program, research and scholarly excellence.
The key focus of the Vice-Principal Academic and Research will be to ensure that Bishop’s sustains an accessible, responsive and innovative learning and teaching environment that prepares students for the world through strong disciplinary programs set within a model based on breadth and depth of learning, collaboration across disciplines, research and creativity, meaningful interaction with faculty and staff, and opportunities to learn by doing.

Bishop’s University is currently undergoing a period of significant transformation. Among their key opportunities for action, the Vice-Principal Academic and Research will play a leadership role in advancing and implementing the ongoing institutional strategy, particularly with respect to innovation in academic program offerings and the development of research. They will also play a central role in reviewing academic operations and in the long-term planning of resources. This renewal of programs and operations will ultimately contribute to efforts aimed at attracting top-tier students and meeting the needs of today’s and tomorrow’s student populations.

Bishop’s University
Bishop’s University is a predominantly undergraduate English-language university. Its primary focus is offering students a quality education in business, sciences, social sciences, the humanities and education. Its small size (2600 full-time students) and extensive on-campus residence offering encourage students to immerse themselves in a comprehensive university experience.

Faculty

Location
Bishop’s is located in the bilingual community of Lennoxville, a borough of Sherbrooke, the sixth largest metropolitan area in Quebec. The Eastern Townships region offers a rich history, diverse cultural offerings and exceptional outdoor recreational opportunities. Campus
Bishop’s 550-acre campus boasts 25 buildings, including seven residences, a Library Learning Commons, and an archival library, two theatres, outstanding classrooms, laboratory and athletic facilities, an arena, a historic chapel, a music recital hall and a daycare. A duck pond and wildlife refuge, an educational farm and a golf course are also found on campus.
