Position Description
The Faculty of Education’s Department of Teacher Education and Department of Curriculum and Leadership at St. Francis Xavier University (StFX) invite applications for a probationary-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin July 1, 2026. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

As the StFX Faculty of Education experiences growth and success in its BEd, MEd, PhD, and certificate programs, the Departments are in need of new tenure track faculty member. For this position the Departments seek applicants with a foundational background in teacher education and/or curriculum and leadership, and a PhD with specialization in one or more of French language educationinclusive practiceseducational foundationscurriculum studies/inquiry, or educational administration. Preference will be given to those who are bilingual and are able to teach in both English and French.

The successful candidate will be responsible to develop and teach courses related to their area(s) of specialization. This position offers opportunities for engagement in BEd, MEd, PhD, and certificate programs. Successful candidates will also have responsibilities for mentoring pre-service teachers in the practicum and supervising graduate students’ research.

The successful candidate will be also expected to develop an independent research program and to seek external funding, individually and/or in collaboration with others. Additionally, the successful candidate should develop an equitable, diverse, and inclusive teaching and research approach to promote a respectful environment for all students, staff, and faculty.

The successful candidate will contribute to both on-campus and off-campus offerings; as such, the position is based in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, and some travel throughout the province will be required. The successful candidate must hold a valid driver’s license. Experience with both synchronous and asynchronous modes of online instruction are considered assets.
