Regis College
Regis College invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor of Spiritual Care and Practical Theology to begin July 1, 2026. This is for a one-year contractually-limited term appointment (CLTA) in the teaching-stream, with the possibility of renewal up to a total maximum of 3 years.
The successful applicant will be assigned duties at and become a member of the newly federated Regis St. Michael’s Faculty of Theology within the Toronto School of Theology (TST) in the University of Toronto and may also be appointed to the Regis College Ecclesiastical Faculty.
The successful candidate will possess the ability to teach a variety of theories and practices of spiritual care and spiritually integrated psychotherapy in our basic degree programs. Expertise in one or more of the following teaching areas is desirable: trauma-informed approaches, family systems, narrative therapeutic modalities, psychodynamic theories, Indigenous healing modalities, theories of aging/human development, spiritual assessment, mindfulness-based modalities, theological/spiritual reflection, and theological/spiritual integration of practice.
Demonstrated excellence in teaching is essential, with a record of publications that enhance the quality and the impact of their teaching and formation work commensurate with their experience. Depending on previous experience and research profile, the successful applicant may also be eligible for appointment to the Graduate Centre for Theological Studies in order to participate in the teaching of graduate research master’s and doctoral students.
Applicants must have a completed PhD or equivalent in Spiritual or Pastoral Care or Practical Theology (or related discipline). A solid knowledge of the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC) and the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) or similar certifying/regulating bodies is highly preferred. Applicants should speak explicitly to how they can support the missions of Regis College and the Regis St. Michael’s Faculty of Theology.
