Social and Public Communication - Tenure-Track Position (Communication and Environment)

University of Québec in Montreal’s Department of Social and Public Communication (DCSP) is a reference in Quebec and the French-speaking world notably. Recognized in several fields of communication, the DCSP wishes to consolidate its expertise in communication and environment.
Whether at the local, national, or global level, social and public communication is a crucial dimension of environmental issues. With this position, the DCSP seeks to recruit someone capable of critical reflection on how communication unfolds around environmental problems, issues, and challenges such as environmental justice and inequalities, risk and crisis communication, socio-ecological transition, the emergence or seeding of doubt and misinformation, or the complex articulation of scientific and situated knowledge.
The selected candidate will hold a PhD in communication or a related discipline, teach undergraduate, masters, and doctoral students, and supervise graduate student research. The candidate will be expected to develop a research program related to the position's area of expertise and participate fully in university service.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Ph.D. in communication or a related discipline
- Knowledge of diverse communication theoretical models and approaches related to the environment.
- Ability to position environmental communication within social and public communication theories and paradigms
- Knowledge of research and interventions in communication with regard to various topics relevant to environmental communication (e.g., environmental justice, risk and crisis communication, exposure to contaminants, urban pollution, extractivism, climate change, socio-ecological transition)
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant methodological approaches to the field and attention to their epistemological stakes
- Evidence of research and scientific publications in communication and environment.
- University teaching experience
- Ability to form and collaborate with research teams
- Interest in participating in university governance and service
- Fluency in French, both spoken and written
ASSETS:
- Professional experience in the field.
- Proficiency in other languages, in addition to French.
START DATE OF THE CONTRACT: June 1, 2026
