Position Description
The Department of Human Kinetics at St. Francis Xavier University invites applications for a probationary tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin July 1, 2026. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

For this position, the Department seeks applicants with a foundational background in anatomy and exercise science (e.g., an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology or related field), and a PhD with a specialization in rehabilitation sciences

The successful candidate will be responsible to develop and teach a 200-level Functional (i.e., structural) Anatomy course. This course will become a required course for all our Human Kinetics students in their second year.

Ideally, the successful candidate will develop additional HKIN elective courses on topics related to their area(s) of expertise, such as: Rehabilitation and Chronic Disease, Ergonomics and Professional Injury, etc.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop an independent research program and to seek external funding, individually and/or in collaboration with others. Additionally, the successful candidate should develop an equitable, diverse, and inclusive teaching and research approach to promote a respectful environment for all students, staff, and faculty.

About the Department of Human Kinetics
Human Kinetics students pursue a four-year integrated program that focuses on human body movement from a variety of perspectives (athletic therapy, biomechanics, disability, exercise physiology, gender, growth, health, history, motor control, philosophy, physical education, sociology, psychology). Students are well-prepared after graduation to enter the workforce, apply to professional programs (e.g. Education, Physiotherapy or Occupational therapy) or Medical school, or pursue Graduate Studies.
