Université Laval, located in Québec City, is a comprehensive university known for excellence in teaching and research. The Department of Geology and Geological Engineering invites applications for a tenure-track position in the field of geomaterials and aggregate technology.
Position Overview
The successful candidate will:
- Teach and supervise students at undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Develop a funded, innovative research program aligned with departmental strengths.
- Participate in departmental and faculty activities.
- Contribute to the university’s visibility through external academic engagement.
Selection Criteria
Applicants must:
- Hold a bachelor's in geological engineering or a related field, and a Ph.D. relevant to the position (or have submitted their thesis).
- Demonstrate research capability and potential for an independent research program.
- Show ability or potential to teach at all university levels and supervise graduate students.
- Commit to pedagogical innovation and community service.
- Be able to teach in French or commit to doing so within three years.
- Be or become a member of a Canadian professional engineering association within three years.
- Support equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in science and engineering.
Candidates should also demonstrate key competencies:

Salary and Conditions: Salary will be based on the collective agreement in effect at hiring.
Departmental Context
The department includes 13 professors, 150 undergraduate students, and over 80 graduate students. Research focuses on:
- Geomaterials
- Mineral resources
- Natural hazard analysis
- Hydrogeology
