Which university is right for you?
Comprehensive new tool to help aspiring students navigate Canada’s universities.
Universities Canada launched a new platform to support prospective university students navigate schools, programs, and scholarship opportunities. UniversityStudy.ca, the website that previously housed the online directory of Canadian universities, has now been completely revamped to provide a wealth of new information to help students with university preparation beyond simply choosing their school and program.
“Our commitment is to deliver a free, bilingual resource that students can count on for verified, trusted, up-to-date information that won’t cost them in dollars or personal data to access,” said Deborah Morrison, publisher of University Affairs, during the online launch announcement. “We believe in the value of a university education and want to provide accurate advice and information to ensure every potential student can see a pathway to that opportunity for themselves.”
As part of the launch, an online event was held with students, scholarship providers and university administrators from several institutions, including Trent University, Mount Royal University and Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières. They shared their perspectives on the features and benefits of the site, such as a new tool to easily compare schools and programs, an AI chatbot to help students filter through scholarships to identify and learn how to apply to the ones most appropriate to their circumstance, and a personal dashboard where visitors can save and store the information they find and share it with their parents or school counsellors.
“The UStudy website puts all the information from different schools right at your fingertips,” said Aiden O’Garro, an international student in the biochemistry and molecular biology program at Trent University.
“Having this array of information from different universities all in one place makes the process of research so much easier. Students benefit from targeted searches for specific programs and can compare all of the available options across the country.”
Although directed primarily at both domestic and international prospective students, the new UniversityStudy.ca website will also supplement university recruitment efforts by providing a fair and open platform to bring their campus profiles to broader audience.
