The Department of Sociology invites applications for a tenure-track position. The successful applicant will support the Crime and Community stream of our program and must be prepared to teach from the first-year level (e.g. Intro to Crime and Community) to senior undergraduate seminars.
The essential qualification is a PhD in Sociology and/or Criminology, and applicants who are ABD and close to completion may also be considered. Applicants seeking to establish an experiential/traditional equivalency to the doctorate degree are invited to contact the Chair of the Selection Committee for more information on how to establish equivalent academic or professional credentials. Applicants must demonstrate the expertise to teach in this field and must have an active research agenda. Specific expertise in Critical Race Theory, Queer Theory, and Restorative or Transformative Justice would be considered an asset.
The successful candidate will join a department with supportive colleagues that are actively working towards equity, diversity, inclusion, and decolonization in their research and teaching programs. The candidate will have opportunities to develop their career and have access to a Professional Development Allowance. Additionally, multiple professional mentorship opportunities are available to the successful candidate. Willingness to participate collegially in service to the department, university, and the community that it serves will be expected.
