Social Work Law and Social Justice - Assistant Professor

Founded in 1940, the School of Social Work is one of the largest French-language institutions in the field of social work. Recognized for its commitment to academic excellence, it is accredited by the Canadian Association for Social Work Education (CASWE). With 25 professors, the School stands out for its significant contributions to research and the education of undergraduate and graduate students.

The selected candidate must demonstrate a thorough understanding of the relevant legislation governing social work, human rights, and the social work perspective on the defense of individual and collective rights.

Day-to-day responsibilities
Through your undergraduate and graduate-level teaching, and your research activities, you will contribute to the faculty’s pursuit of excellence. Furthermore, you will promote your discipline and actively participate in the daily activities of a renowned institution. As such, you will :

• Teach at all three levels;
• Supervise graduate students;
• Develop a dynamic, innovative research program focused on contemporary issues in social work;
• Actively contribute to our mission of practical training;
• Contribute on an ongoing basis to the operation and development of activities and to the academic life of the School, the Faculty, and the Institution;
• Participate in outreach activities for our institution at the local, national, and international levels.

Qualifications

• Hold a PhD in social work or a related discipline. Applicants must have submitted their dissertation at the time of application;
• Demonstrate the ability to provide high-quality university-level instruction in areas such as social work law and social justice;
• Have research expertise and a demonstrated ability to produce high-level research in a field relevant to social work;
• Demonstrate the potential to develop internal, national, and international collaborations.
• Have sufficient knowledge of the French language or be committed to learning it once hired through the French language learning support program offered by UdeM, in accordance with the University of Montreal’s Language Policy.
