Candidates with a PhD and interdisciplinary expertise in the social sciences are encouraged to apply. The DRD administers interdisciplinary programs, including undergraduate degrees in Rural and Community Studies and graduate programs in Rural Development. Multiple professional mentorship opportunities are available to the successful candidate. Willingness to participate collegially in service to the department, university, and the community that it serves will be expected.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering instruction across undergraduate and graduate curricula and will have opportunities to supervise students in the thesis-based track of the MA program. In addition to contributing within their area of expertise, the appointee will be expected to teach established courses at the undergraduate level (e.g., Introduction to Community Development) and graduate level (e.g., Rural Community Development and Research Methodology). The candidate must demonstrate a clearly defined, and fundable, research program.
